Why use Catappa in the aquarium?
The leaf of the Indian almond has always been used by Thai Betta splendens breeders: it gives a naturally amber color to the water (very useful for fish that like dark waters), naturally lowers the pH of the water and, what's more important, it gradually releases humic acids and tannic acids, whose antibiotic and antifungal action has been widely demonstrated.
