A brief description of the plant:
They are typically rooting aquatic plants (annual or perennial).
They are free of oil cells and without the benzylisoquinoline alkaloid (secondary substance as it does not intervene in the basic metabolism of the plant).
Some species can be considered marsh as they can easily withstand temporary drops in the water level.
The average height of these plants depends on the depth of the reservoir and in any case they rarely exceed two meters in temperate climates, while in tropical environments they can even reach 7 - 8 m.
The biological form of the species of this family is mainly rooting hydrophytic; that is, they are perennial aquatic plants whose buds are found submerged or floating and have a root system that anchors them to the seabed.
